Child birth

Yes, in most cases a kundli can show the period when a child is most likely to come, usually as a window of about a year. It does this by reading the 5th house, Jupiter and the D7 chart, then matching them with your running Dasha and the transits of Jupiter and Saturn. If you’ve been asking yourself can a kundli show when I will have a child, that’s the short answer. The longer answer is below, along with the limits I always explain to couples.

One thing first. A chart reading is a support, not a medical opinion. If you’re facing any fertility concern, please keep working with your doctor. I say this to every couple, and I mean it.

Step 1: Is a child promised in the chart?

I start with what astrologers call the promise. Does the chart support children, and how easily?

For this I look at the 5th house, which is the house of children, along with its lord and any planets sitting there. I check Jupiter, the natural significator of children. And I look at the 9th house, which is the 5th from the 5th and is linked to your child’s own fortune.

When these are reasonably strong, the promise is clear. When they’re under pressure from Saturn, Rahu or Ketu, it usually means delay or some effort along the way. Very few charts I see show a complete denial.

Step 2: Read the D7 chart

The Saptamsa, or D7, is a divisional chart made specifically for children. It often tells me things the main chart hides, like whether there’ll be one child or more, and whether a delay is likely. It needs an accurate birth time, so please check your birth certificate or hospital record before the reading.

Step 3: Find the right Dasha

This is where the timing really comes from. Childbirth often happens in the Mahadasha or Antardasha of the 5th lord, the 9th lord, Jupiter, or a strong planet placed in the 5th house.

If you’re in one of these periods right now, I usually tell couples to plan with confidence. If the next one is a couple of years away, I’ll tell you that too, so you’re not left wondering.

Step 4: Confirm with transits

Inside the right Dasha, I look for Jupiter moving over the 5th house, aspecting it, or passing over the 5th lord. The strongest signal is the double transit, when Jupiter and Saturn influence the 5th house or its lord at the same time. When the Dasha and the double transit agree, that window stands out clearly.

Why I always read both partners’ charts

A child comes into a couple’s life, so one chart alone gives half the picture. I’ve seen many cases where the wife’s chart shows a good window but the husband’s is running a heavy period, or the other way round. The most reliable timing comes when both charts point to the same stretch of time.

How accurate is this?

With correct birth times for both partners, the timing window is usually quite dependable, often narrowed to around a year. Without an exact time, I can still read the Moon sign and the main transits, but the window gets wider.

What I won’t do is give a specific month or date. Nobody can do that honestly, and anyone who promises it is promising too much.

Signs of delay, and what they mean

The patterns I see most often are Saturn on the 5th house, which slows things but often gives a healthy child later; Rahu or Ketu on the 5th house, which can bring unexpected hurdles or a need for medical help; a weak or afflicted Jupiter; and a 5th lord placed in the 6th, 8th or 12th house.

These aren’t a verdict. They show me where the obstacle is, which helps me suggest the right remedy and the right time.

Remedies that may help

I only suggest remedies when the chart shows a clear reason. The ones I recommend most are the Santan Gopal mantra, worship of Bal Gopal, strengthening Jupiter through Thursday prayers and charity, and, where needed, a specific puja for Rahu, Ketu or Saturn. They bring strength and peace of mind, and they work best together with medical care.

What to keep ready for a reading

  1. Exact birth date, time and city for both partners
  2. How long you’ve been trying, and any medical treatment so far
  3. Any specific question, like the best months to plan or a delivery muhurat

Frequently asked questions

Can a kundli tell exactly when I’ll get pregnant? It can show the period when it’s most likely, usually as a window of about a year. It can’t give an exact date.

Which house in the kundli shows children? The 5th house is the main house of children, supported by the 9th house, Jupiter and the D7 chart.

Is there a yoga for late childbirth? Yes. Saturn’s influence on the 5th house or its lord is a common sign of children coming later in life.

Can astrology help during IVF? It can suggest months that look stronger for a treatment cycle. The medical decisions should always stay with your doctor.

Do I need my husband’s birth details too? Yes. Reading both charts together gives a much more reliable timing.

A last word

Waiting for a child is one of the hardest kinds of waiting. Knowing that there’s a window ahead, and roughly when it opens, often brings a calm that couples tell me they hadn’t felt in a long time.
